Steve Benham
Stephen Benham is President of Music in World Cultures (MIWC), a global mission dedicated to Empowering All Voices to Worship Christ. He also serves as Professor of Music Education and Chair of Performance at the Mary Pappert School of Music, Duquesne University. Holding degrees from the University of Minnesota (B.S.), University of Michigan (M.M.), and the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester (Ph.D.), Stephen has pioneered cross-cultural music missions since launching the Ukraine Project in 1996. His research highlights music’s vital role in shaping cultural and spiritual identity, especially among persecuted communities. Under his leadership, MIWC has expanded into Eastern Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, South Asia, and beyond, training pastors, teachers, and musicians. Ordained as a Minister of the Gospel, Stephen is passionate about mentoring leaders, advancing music education as a tool for worship, and serving vulnerable communities worldwide.
